Register for the Runway Run
Fit-out specialist Portview has joined with our charity partner Make-A-Wish Foundation to urge businesses to enter the Grant Thornton Runway Run, which is this year supporting the children’s charity.
With just under three weeks until the hugely popular 5k run takes to the runway at George Best Belfast City Airport at 11pm on Thursday, 22 June, there is still time to register for the limited spaces that remain.
Portview, with five teams signed up to take part, is among several firms to have entered multiple teams in the leading business advisory firm’s event.
Richard Gillan, Managing Partner of Grant Thornton in Northern Ireland, said:
“We are delighted with the response to this year’s Runway Run, which is heading for a record number of entries in what is the event’s third year with over 500 registered to participate.
“With companies such as Portview entering multiple teams, we can expect intense competition on the night, not only between rival firms but within companies themselves.
“Our chosen charity, Make-A-Wish Foundation, has also proved popular with the business community and we are delighted to join with Portview in supporting this great cause.”
Looking ahead to the event, Portview Managing Director Simon Campbell said:
“It’s fantastic that this year’s Grant Thornton Runway Run is supporting our charity partner, Make-A-Wish Foundation.
“The charity, and the Runway Run event, has really caught the imagination of our staff. The fact there will be five teams representing Portview on the night is testament to the dedication of employees in supporting our corporate responsibility goals.
“We’re always travelling in and out of Belfast City Airport for business, so it’s very exciting to quite literally hit the ground running in this unique event to help raise funds for charity. We look forward to pitting ourselves against the other firms on what is sure to be a memorable and enjoyable night.”
Make-A-Wish Foundation Northern Ireland Fundraising Manager Gail McKee added:
“At Make-A-Wish, we work with some of the most vulnerable people in society, helping to make their dreams come true.
“Our goal is to grant the one true wish of children with life-threatening conditions, whether it’s going on an amazing holiday, meeting a celebrity idol or even walking with dinosaurs.
“Our work relies on the generosity of our many benefactors and we thank Grant Thornton and Portview for their ongoing supporting.”
The race, which is supported by Athletics NI and Athletics Ireland, is open to all businesses and organisations in Northern Ireland who are invited to enter a team of four in one or more of three categories – male, female and mixed.
